It was said quite perfectly.

Photography is a way of feeling, of touching, of loving. What you have caught on film is captured forever... it remembers little things, long after you have forgotten everything.
Aaron Siskind is the genius behind that quote.
I don't think that the way I feel about taking pictures could have been said so easily.

I posted pictures of my nephew onto my facebook and my Aunt Terri asked if I took enough pictures. My reply was no, I can never take enough pictures.
She said your a woman after my heart.
Well, at the young and eventful age of 15 months, everything is new. and its something worth remembering. I love my nephew to death and I appreciate all of the stress he has caused me, but I guess its more my sister that does it. but, I've learned and grown from it. and I also think that I have become a better person from it.
I come to realize that, I have this opportunity to help take care of my nephew so that I can be a strong influence in his life. I haven't grown up with great influences of my own, so therefore I had to make my own path. And its scary.
So when given the opportunity to help guide my nephew through life, theres no way I can just let that opportunity pass by.
When he's older, I'm going to be PROUD of what he becomes.
And I'll have plenty of pictures too.
Here are some of the most recent pictures of him.

I try to make sure theres a story too. Not just some picture.

I never plan on trying to make the perfect picture, to where its worthy enough to put into a frame...unless its a picture that is needed to be frame worthy, say, a portrait. What matters to me is the story behind the picture. Whe taking a random picture of a person is captures the originality of a person.
A picture to me is single second in time that stops and captures the personality of a person, there is nothing posed, nothing hid. Its a true picture. THATS what I aim for. Reality. Although a picture may show depressing imagines, its truth. It shows truth. Its claiming that this is what it was like, at that single moment in time. A picture REALLY can tell a thousand words.
And I try to make sure that it does that.
As I was taking pictures of some family friends the other day for there holiday cards I took a test photo of the four kids...It wasn't meant to be an actual photo for them to use. The oldest son was holding the youngest daughter, and she was laying horizontal in his arms stretching and struggling to get free. The youngest son was pulling up his shirt. Probably screaming something along the lines of "Spiderman!!" or something like that. And there oldest daughter was just standing there waiting for that picture to be taken. I love it.

That picture...there. Is what I would believe to be 'picture frame' worthy. I showed there mom the picture and laughed because the personality of the kids were so exact in that picture. So therefore I try to find truth and the natural being of a person. Then take the picture. For your enjoyment...heres the picture.

My fun photos (Oregon - summer '08)

A picture REALLY can mean a thousand words.

These pictures were taken in Oregon at the very end of summer(school break, summer) on a trip. I spent a week and a half with my cousin Andrew, who lives down the street from my grandparens, and my cousins Hannah and Aja, who live in Utah...and the Timpanogos temple is what they see every morning they wake up. The're dad and the two girls drove to Salem, Oregon to spend a week with all of there cousin that they haven't seen in a long time. We, being Me, Andrew, Hannah, Aja, and their dad, Uncle Pops(david), had decided to take a trip to Depot Bay, Oregon (coast) and camp at Beverly Beach for about four days. So this is where all of these pictures were taken. Thats where the most memories were made. And this trip all together made me realize how special family is. Also, that I get all my dysfunctions and wellnesses, from my moms side...you'll see in the pictures. So watch my story.

The night we arrived at Beverly Beach, we set up camp then took a walk to see the Sunset.

Not even into Salem yet. This brought some great laughter between Hannah, me, and Andrew.
This dog would have tried to eaten me had she been 20 pounds heavier, Shinay. But she looks like she's smiling in this. I like this picture.

Disfunctional at the least.
We went shopping in Depot Bay. Yes. I do love them.

Another funny Story. Aja needed a calculator for school when she returned to Utah, so on our way to the coast we stopped at Walmart and got her her handy dandy calculator. And all during our caost trip, she spent most of the time playing with it. Huh? right? Well in this picture we were sitting in the car. Andrew and Uncle pops ran into the store to get some food for us to eat for breakfast and suddenly Aja exclaims to me:

Aja, "My calculator has an attidtude"
Me- "What?"
Aja- "Yeah, I went to quit a game cause I didn't
know how to play it, and its like, what?!
Is this to HARD for you?"

The boys hadn't come back yet, and about ten minutes after Aja's calculator thing, this happened between me and Hannah in the back seat.

Me- "You took the picture yourself and now I'm gonna stick it on my myspace."
Hannah- "No!"
Hannah went to delete it- "Chanae! you locked it! Ah!"
Me- "Haha."

This is probably my most favorite 'portrait' pictures I took this entire trip. This dog, Shinay, has a problem with me. This dog is VERY attached to Aja so I just love this.
(I don't get it. We have the same name?)

Can't you just FEEL the love?

I don't believe she had any Idea what was going on behind her.

Until I showed her the picture...Hannah then HIT Andrew.

Sunrise the day before we left morning.
Andrew climbed up the hill up to the freeway that morning to.

The night before we left sunset.

Last night before we left for home...It was a great night.
Andrew and Hannah Hugging.

I shoved a camera in his face. Wouldn't you have the same expression?

----------------------

A couple days before we went to the coast. We decided to take a trip to some waterfall. Can't remember the name but that trip was awesome. I fell so many times too, but the best time was when Andrew and I were racing to the visitors store and I cut the corner through some sawdust and so rocks. As I jumped over the rock the tip of my shoe caught and I ended flipping about five feet then tumbled another five feet or so. If you know me well enough then you wouldn't be surprised that the first thing I did, as I was laying flat on my back, was raise my arms and yell to Andrew "That Was AWESOME!!". Of course many people that had been sitting and watched this whole thing occur started busting up laughing, then Andrew and I joined in. I even beat him to the store after the fact. I got beat up pretty bad, bruised and banged. But that memory will forever lie in my memory.

On the way out of Mill City, OR. I was taken random pictures out the window from the floor.

Aja finally let me take a picture.

Hannah wasn't feeling very good once we got under the Waterfall. So we all made her really annoyed.
